For years, I fought, I fought like it was my only job
I fought the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter
And I fought the illness when it came
I fought my body
I fought for justice and rightness and fame
I fought myself and I fought you, you, just being who you are
And oh how I sulked
I raged and I grieved. Sometimes I did grieve
I aged and stayed the same in this way
Never knowing rest nor myself nor you
And then one day,
I go out, and I listen to the whisper of the trees as their leaves rustle in the wind
Telling me There is a Wisdom and Rightness in all things
Telling me there is time and space
The trees tell me, oh beloved
That time and space is yours to
discover the ways and craftsmanship of simply being human
